Nose: Over-ripe banana, vanilla cookie dough, honey, stale pink musk stick-lollies, dusty, sweet.
Taste: Fisherman's friend cough drop-aniseed, cinnamon, ginger, certainly contradicts the nose; nothing overly sweet, well not enough to accurately indicate anyway besides the slight creaminess.
Finish: Smooth, short to medium with a very faint wave of ground pepper and aniseed.
Comment: This is my second tasting of Suntory's “Royal-NAS”, and I should point out that it was from a miniature. On this occasion, though I don’t normally, I felt the urge to add a few drops of water. In my opinion, doing so takes this blend to another level. Quite rewarding.

Clint, now you've enjoyed the 'base model' I highly recommend that if you get the chance you try the Royal 15YO. I know it cost around 3 times the price of the NAS, but it is top notch stuff that I rate higher than the well regarded Hibiki 12 that's about the same price.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian, found it last night at a local outlet funny enough, I believe it was on special, unfortunately there a few other on things on the list before this. I will get around to it hopefully sooner rather than later. The outlet also had the slim bottling of Royal NAS which was slightly cheaper than the design above.
ReplyDeleteJumping back to the 15YO Brian, besides the aesthetics of the two different bottle types, slim and the iconic square (just like the NAS) and price, in your opinion are there any other differences?
